Joe Grills see the problem with that is that this was released in 2004, and tochinoshin didn’t even start his pro sumo career until 2006, so that doesn’t make any sense here.
Joe Grills I mean you did say that you wish they would’ve measured him instead of these guys, so naturally that’s why I corrected it lol But it would be nice if they measured that guy for his LBM and muscle activity. Tho he has been injured recently so that may be a bit tough because of those injuries
Same tbh I’ve been analyzing their training and incorporated some of it into my normal training. Their shiko and low attack stance is beautifully painful for the legs. After these workouts my legs are easily weak from the strain.
This was the anthem for all of us who didn't fit in. Those who were bullied. Whose faces were "ravaged" with acne. Those picked last for anything. Those never invited to a party or a dance. Those who sat alone at lunch. Those whose high school experience was hell. The ones who just managed to avoid suicide.
I've never seen one with a beard, but occasionally they have sideburns. Chiyotairyu, in the top division has them. ruclips.net/video/ZOVRqLINrXs/видео.html
I believe this research to a certain point, they are fat and they do have high blood pressure, cholesterol, pre-diabetic and diabetic. There knee is often injured because of all the weight they carry, like all other humans they do have problems with insulin (insulin resistance), hearts problems you name it. When they are young it does not affect them so much but once they are near 30 years old and over it becomes a health issue. Statistically Sumo wrestler don't live that old, 60% died before the age of 60; only 3 Yokozuna to my knowledge lived to the ripe old age of 80. Si the glory of the sport is under 30 after that quit because health issue will become your life's problem.
Mostly because they need to slowly change their eating habits and general lifestyle. To go from the very active and high calorie sumo experience and change it to the average person’s daily exercise and eating is a big shock to the body
Thank you for the English version.
Interesting show. Would be great to see it in original Japanese with English subtitles.
I like it very much. I am a capoeirista and I will use theese tecnics to improve my practise. Thank you!
would be great if they measured tochinoshin instead of this rikishi. dude's built like a truck even for sumo standards

@@Caesar00Chan I mean now. In 2020. I would like to see a measurement of tochinoshin now. Hope this makes sense

Meh, Takakeisho has a harder hit
He won't fit in that tiny MRI scanner
young takamisakari photo was gold
I have been watching a lot of sumo and things related to sumo a lot lately, which i had never paid attention to before lol
sumo is making a resurgence with the death byamba

Amazing documentary

Excellent
Very informative
Harumafuji's tachiai was literally a bullet.
Damn right. He had such a spearheaded tachiai, like a bolt of lightning.
Please do more translations for this series. It was great!
correct me if i'm wrong but, isn't this study limited by the dimension of the MRI machine?
Damn boi they thiccc
Awesome
Beautifull
they could look adductor and gluteus medius activity too :(
Instagram models should do a lot of shikos so that they get bigger glutes.
Hinomaruzumou
Sports professor hasn’t been measuring American football players! But yeah, still very impressed with various Rikishi
I think, in quantity of muscle, sumo wrestlers would compare more favourably to NFL players than, say, professional Strongmen or Powerlifters.
Think on of these guys helping to push a car...would smash the car.
There actually is a video out there of rikishi helping a woman push her car that was stuck. Made it look easy.
In this episode, Mike said “tree (3)” four times.

Why are sumo wrestlers not allowed to have facial hair when the first two wrestlers are always depicted with it?

Aran used to have beard, or at least stubble. Harumafuji used to have a five o'clock stubble on his chin.
The japanese believe that beards or facial hair bring goodluck and is seen as an advantage
Ishiura, currently in Makuuchi, was sporting a light moustache this past 2022 January basho :)
